If you go to the User Section, click on User and than right click on the user subfolder you can create a new user (or select a user form the list). Then you can assign a User Type (Role).
Assign the user type Writer for users that can add/edit content and assign type Editor to users that can also publish the content. Also assign the sections where the user has rights for.

This is what I did: Right click on 'Users' (the one that contains 'Administrator'), clicked 'Create' on the pop-up menu.
I got a pop-up window with a textbox to fill the name, and when I clicked 'Create' nothing happened.

I tried that with IE8 (with compatibility view enabled), Firefox 3.0.5 and SRWare Iron 1.0
I also read that other people had that problem, but no solution was posted yet.
I just tried on an RC3 install and it worked fine. What version of Umbraco and what browser are you using?
I first tried with Umbraco4, and then with Umbraco 4.0.0.RC3
I followed the instructions for the installation, I am using Cassini Web Server, and VistaDB.
Is there a workaround to add users? like opening a file or accessing the database, and then fixing whatever is missing from Umbraco?
I don't want to be stuck on this, I only need 2 users

I would like to have a user add/edit content to a site, and a moderator to publish them.
How can I create users in Umbraco, and assign a role to them?
I tried right-clicking in the users section, and that did not add any user.
